My Formula Pro Review
It was 4 a.m. And the baby was crying… again. I’d just gotten up and fed her a few hours ago. I rose carefully out of bed; it was a struggle to get my glued eyelids to open at all, much less stay that way.
She was only 2 months old and she was constantly wanting to be fed, it seemed. She was my first child, so I’m not sure what I expected. My mom and aunt had both told me to be prepared to be sleepless at least the first 3 months.
It’s just the way it is, they said. No fix for it. You’re just going to suffer for the first 3 months, job or no job, school or no school.
They said there’s no escaping the tired.
I believed them.
After all, who was I to question generations of sage advice from my elders?
Everything Was Okay
I wandered into the baby’s room and checked her bottom. I’d just changed her a few hours ago when I was up with her last but still expected her to be dirty again.
I took a look and yep… dirty again.
I grabbed a diaper and the wipes. Yawned hard and attempted to shake the hazy mental state from being sleepless for so long.
Changing her wasn’t difficult for me, but she was pretty raw about it.
She had to have woken everyone else up by now.
After changing her, I picked her up and made my way to the kitchen in the dark.
The moonlight coming in through the curtains over the sink was just another reminder of what an ungodly time it was to be up.
Let’s face reality… you, in the shackles of sleep deprivation, don’t think the moon is beautiful at this point in your life, either. The only thing on your mind is getting your baby dry, fed and back to sleep as soon as possible because you are exhausted.
Luckily, I’d already premade a bottle and stored it in the refrigerator.
I figured this would save me a little time, but in all reality, it didn’t seem like it right then.
I put it in the bottle warmer, turned it on, leaned against the counter holding my baby, and I waited.
The timer went off.
… And Then It Wasn’t Okay Anymore
It startled me and I lost grip on my baby and nearly dropped her as I stumbled into the cabinet to my right.
The Next Day, I Was On A Mission
There had to be a better way.
My mom nor my aunt were any help; they both said the same thing. There isn’t a fix for it unless you want to hire a live-in nanny for the first few months.
If I could afford that, I’d have one already.
My husband already helps as much as he can and still be able to function at his job every day. Poor guy is in worse shape than I was, and even then he tried to do even more to help.
It wasn’t the getting up multiple times a night that got me. It was the staying up that was making the dent in my rest and my peace of mind.
Getting her back to sleep was the problem.
By the time I finished changing her, the bottle made, if I didn’t have one pre-mixed already, heated it, and fed her, she was already cranked up.
Sometimes it was another hour before I could get her back to sleep… but sometimes it was 4 hours.
Once she decided she was awake, she was just awake… and the timeline to get her back to sleep was unpredictable. Could be twenty minutes, could be four hours.
How Did I Not Already Know About This??
Every new parent knows the drill: breast is best. It’s touted everywhere from the hospital to social media platforms and in parenting classes to the playground.
However, sometimes life happens and you find yourself supplementing formula or even having to go with formula all the time. Not every new mother can breastfeed.
The downside to formula is that all of the convenience is gone. You can no longer just pull up your shirt and immediately feed your child.
Suddenly, you are mixing powders with liquids like a science project when you can barely keep your eyes open in the wee hours of the morning.
Every parent who’s poured their fifth cup of coffee has wondered why pouring a bottle of formula wasn’t just as easy.
Well, now it is. So let me tell you about my other “new” baby.
Introducing, the invention that makes sliced bread look dumb, The Baby Brezza.
Baby Brezza Formula Pro
How It Works
When you wake up in the middle of the night to a screaming baby the last thing you need to do is fiddle around with a measuring spoon to make sure that you added just the right amount of formula.
Any parent knows you have less than a three minute window to get that baby soothed with a bottle or else you are up for the rest of the night.
Fortunately, operating the Baby Brezza is no more difficult than operating your coffee pot. Before bed or in the morning you prep the machine with several bottles worth of formula powder and water in their separate tanks.
Then, when you need a bottle throughout the day or night you simply place a bottle under the dispenser, select the bottle size, and brew it up. It really is that simple.
Bottles Are The Perfect Temperature Every Time
You can choose different settings from two, four, six, eight, and ten ounces. Best of all you never have to worry about making your formula too hot or cold again as the Baby Brezza warms up the formula to a perfect 98 degrees Fahrenheit.
This means that when baby starts waking up for feeding you can quickly make a perfectly mixed and warmed bottle before they even wake up all the way!
Save for the prep that is needed by filling the tanks the up keep is very simple for such an amazing machine. Daily wipe downs and the occasional flushing out of any older powder is really all there is to keeping your life that much simpler.
Sealed tanks mean that you also don’t have to worry about contamination of the baby’s water or formula powder which could be an expensive problem.
The amazing design insures a bottle can be perfectly made with just the touch of a button. You don’t even have to be completely awake to do that.
Even better is when Grandma and Grandpa visit and want to help you can very easily have them bring you a bottle without having to try and explain how to mix the powders and such.
Simply explain where to put the bottle and tell them to hit start. Just be prepared for your mother’s jealousy because she didn’t have such convenience when she was raising you!
The Return of Convenience
Convenience is something that not very many parents, let alone first time parents, are able to buy. When your baby is crying in the middle of the night and will not stop you need all the help that you can get.
The ability to simply roll over, press a “start” button and have a complete formula bottle ready to go is the kind of convenience that can make all the difference between another night of no sleep at all or a night where you and your baby both get the sleep that you need.
You owe it to yourself and your baby to give the Baby Brezza a try.
