Juicing Recipes For Constipation

Juicing Recipes For Constipation

Constipation is more than simply uncomfortable and painful, it can be a serious health hazard if you go too long without treating it.

Fortunately there are ways to get rid of constipation without having to take any nasty pills. All you need is a juicer and the right ingredients to create the perfect juice to reduce constipation.

What Constipation Really Is

Something widely misunderstood about constipation is the fact that what is considered “normal” bowel movements is different to everyone. The definition of being constipated is having less than 3 movements per week. If you get to this point, it’s time to start working on it. If you become suddenly constipated, haven’t had a bowel movement in 2 weeks, OR your stomach is hardened anywhere below your navel when you push in, seek medical attention immediately. Juicing will not help with constipation that severe.

Why Laxatives Don't Work For Long

When constipation arises one of the first things that a person may do is run to the store and buy some laxatives. Not a bad idea if you rarely get constipation but it will do more harm than good if you experience constipation regularly. This is because laxatives are meant to be a temporary solution for a temporary problem. When you repeatedly use laxatives your body builds up a resistance to them. This means that eventually they will be practically useless.

Why Juicing Works Every Time

When you start juicing you are making a major dietary change, one that promotes true nourishment in your body. This is why juicing succeeds where laxatives eventually fail. When you make juicing a constant in your life you are giving your body the exact nutrients it needs to not only survive, but thrive.

One of the best combinations is very warm water and lemon. When you juice the lemon be sure to include a little bit of the peel. Simple, right? Of course it is.

Prunes Are Plum Helpful

If you are just determined to use prunes no matter what, then at least make the experience as enjoyable as possible. Use plums instead! Prunes are merely plums that have been dehydrated anyway. You will get the full effect of the plum as well as good flavor as opposed to the hit or miss flavor that prunes offer up.

The Pear Fennel

The pear in this drink makes it both smooth and delicious with the tiniest crisp bite.

  • 2 pears
  • 1 fennel stalk

The Plum Banana

This sweet concoction is great for helping to regulate your digestion and help everything get back to smooth flowing. You can use prunes instead of plums here, but because they are dry, you will have to soak them in water for 10-15 minutes before juicing.

  • 6 plums
  • a handful of raspberries

The Wheatgrass Regulator

This one is a little bit odd with the addition of wheatgrass but it’s superbly delicious and extremely effective.

  • 2 carrots
  • 2 green apples
  • 1 oz wheatgrass (for simplicity, a handful of spinach works as well)

The Grapefruit Pusher

This one has sweet and tangy grapefruit that helps to not only regulate you but also to refresh on hot days. Pour over ice for the ultimate summer treat.

  • 2 green apples
  • 2 oranges
  • 1 grapefruit

All of these juicing recipes are great for promoting regularity and helping with constipation but keep in mind that you can always tweak a recipe to better suit your dietary needs. The greatest thing about juicing is the absolute control you have over what you consume.
